	Further down the page you'll find a link to the questions used in the final of this year's 'Champion of Champions' knock-out competition. The 1999 'Champion of Champions' match was staged on 28th April. The venue was The Three Houses pub on Barnsley Road, Wakefield. Some 80 or so spectators attended, the evening also being the occasion for the presentation of league trophies and certificates. An incredibly close-fought contest was eventually won by The Traveler's Rest of Elland, who beat the White Lion of Armley in Leeds by the narrowest of all possible margins. The standard was extremely high. Some 129 points were scored out of a possible maximum of 164 (a 79% score rate). The two finalists did remarkably well with some very tough questions indeed. Either side would have been very worthy champions!

	Health Warning: You should be aware that questions written for the finals of Champion of Champions competitions are deliberately made rather difficult. They are therefore NOT to be taken as being entirely representative of typical Wise Old Owls match questions. As you might expect, the standard of teams reaching the final is always extremely high, and if the audience are to have a chance of thinking about the questions before the teams answer them, well we do have to make them a little bit on the hard side!


	Anyway, this is how an extremely exciting and hard fought match progressed ....

	'The White Lion' took Team A questions and Team B questions were answered by 'The Travellers Rest'.

Round 1:		White Lion score 6, Travellers' 4
Round 2:		White Lion score 6, Travellers' 6 White Lion lead 12 points to 10

Round 3:		White Lion score 6, Travellers' 6 White Lion lead 18 points to 16

Round 4:		White Lion score 9, Travellers' 6 White Lion lead 27 points to 22

Round 5:		Both teams score maximum points! White Lion lead 37 points to 32

Round 6:		Travellers' score 8, White Lion 8 White Lion lead 45 points to 40

Round 7:		Travellers' score 10, White Lion 4 Traveller's lead 50 points to 49

Round 8:		Travellers' score 6, White Lion 9 White Lion lead 58 points to 56

Round 9:		Travellers' score 9, White Lion 6
Final Score:		Travellers' Rest win by 65 points to 64

Round 10		Tie-breaker & Spares not used
