As well as writing questions for pub quiz leagues the Wise Old
Owls also write "fun" questions for the more typical
"pub quiz" format.
Just in case you've never been in a British pub while a quiz has been
underway, all you need to know is that teams of friends, or indeed
couples or individuals, listen to a series of questions read out
(usually over the pub's PA system) to which they write down the answers
on an entry form. After all the questions have been read out
contestants hand in or swap sheets with other "teams" for
marking. Those who turn out to have the best scores typically win
beer prizes (some pubs even give a "booby prize" for the
lowest score).
The Wise Old Owls produce a variety of quiz formats according
to what licensees want or else what they think will best suit their
customers. Our pub quizzes generally feature a number of questions
of a topical nature. In addition some "true or false"
questions (or daft but amusing multiple-choice questions) serve as levellers
to give ordinary customers a chance against the evil "quiz
professional" who goes round snaffling-up beer prizes.
In brief there are two types of pub quiz.
Licensees can take either, or both (if they wish), of
the following ...
